Open Access Policy

Research and Development in Medical Education (RDME) is committed to the principles of open, equitable, and sustainable scholarly communication. The journal provides immediate and unrestricted online access to its published scholarly content, enabling researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, students, policymakers, and the wider community to read and use published research without subscription or registration barriers.

RDME supports the principle that unrestricted access to scholarly knowledge promotes the advancement of medical education, improves the dissemination of evidence, and facilitates collaboration and innovation in education and healthcare.

1. Immediate Open Access

All scholarly articles published by RDME are made available online immediately upon publication and are freely accessible to readers.

Readers may:

• read the full text of published articles without charge;
• download articles;
• save and print copies for personal, educational, and research use;
• search and link to published articles;
• share articles in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons licence.

RDME does not impose an embargo period on access to its published scholarly articles.

The journal does not require users to register, subscribe, or pay a fee in order to access the full text of open-access articles.

This approach is consistent with established definitions of open access, under which scholarly articles should be freely available without delay and accompanied by an appropriate open licence.
